Stick the plate to the wall
Press the 140mm back plate onto a clean, flat patch of wall near the blind. No drilling, screws or tools.
Loop the chain on
Hook the trailing length of bead chain over the wheel and let it sit in the groove.

Child safety FAQ
How much of a real risk is a looped blind chain?
Enough of one that UK and EU rules oblige every new blind to ship with a safety device fitted. What causes harm is the loop itself sitting at toddler height, not the chain as a material — a small child can put their head through it in seconds and cannot get back out. Lift the loop above reach and the hazard is gone; that is all any safety device, ours included, is doing.
Why not just fit a cleat or a cord clip?
A cleat depends on a person doing the right thing every single time. Skip it once — a visitor, a rushed morning, a child who pulled the chain down — and the loop is back at head height. The winder removes that dependency: the chain is physically wound onto the wheel and there is no free loop left to forget about.
Should I just buy cordless blinds instead?
If you are replacing the blinds anyway, cordless is the better answer — no cord means nothing to manage. Most people are not in that position. They have corded blinds that work fine, a quote for replacing them that runs into the hundreds, and a chain hanging in a room a child uses. That is the situation this is built for.
Will it fit the blind I already have?
The wheel is cut for a standard bead chain, which is what almost every roller and vertical blind sold in the UK uses. Braided or continuous fabric cords are not a fit. If you cannot tell which you have, send us a photo of the chain before you order and we will tell you.
Does tape really hold it, or should I screw it in?
Tape holds it. The 140mm plate goes up on a 3M 467MP double-sided adhesive sheet, spreading the load over a wide area, and cranking a bead chain puts very little force on it. Renters and anyone with tiled reveals can stop there. If you would rather it never came off, the same plate carries 12 screw holes.
Is it 3D printed?
Yes — 3D printed in the UK, in durable PETG or PLA. The wheel and hand-crank knob are a single moving part with no springs or clips to wear out.
